The Pleasant Oaks Gem & Mineral Club and the Dallas Gem & Mineral Society run a fully equipped workshop and provide classes in lapidary, jewelry, and related arts to the members.

Classes that require the use of workshop equipment may only be taken after completion of two basic classes.  The first class is the "Qualifying Class", it teaches you the use of the lapidary saws and workshop safety.  The second class is "Beginning Cabochon", it teaches you the art of cutting and polishing stones into cabochons.  Once you have completed these classes you may use the workshop equipment for any other classes and during all open workshop hours.

A Faceting group has recently been formed and is meeting weekly.  An Opal Cutting class has just been completed and another one will be held later this summer if there is sufficient interest.

Classes that do not require the use of workshop equipment, may be attended by all current members.  Classes of this nature include Wire Wrapping, Silversmithing, Gem Tree, etc.

Please check the calendar for currently scheduled classes or contact the Second Vice President of either club for more information on upcoming classes.
